"You know, I wonder if she likes me."

"Why, dude?"

"Well, she just sent me a topless selfie."

"Whoa, dude!"

"Yeah, I know. So difficult to tell, right?"

"...Dude."

Random neighborhood kid: You look like Harry Potter.

Me: I do?

Kid: Yeah, as an adult. Your hair and your glasses.

Me: Well, there was worse things than being compared to Daniel Radcliffe.

Nothing to lose makes someone dangerous.

Something to live for makes someone inspired.

Tidbits

Every time I reconnect with someone, it's like I just managed to save a piece of personal history from the charred remains of a burned house. Feels good.

Had a bit of a set back. But also thought of a way around it in the future. A little flexibility of mind in pursuit of a goal keeps the boulders from running over you.

I've got enemies up to my eyeballs, but no one really worthy of being a "rival." Someone with whom I can compete (in a friendly and sporting manner) to encourage me to bring my A game. I feel that might help my growth.

Totally proper self care for anxiety: tell yourself you're weak and worthless until you shame yourself into being better.

Anyone else find it weird when you say "a couple" and someone responds with, "How many?"

I said a couple! That means 2!

That feeling when you see a small animal in the road, shift lanes to avoid it - and then they throw themselves under your tire just as you pass by. My car is not an assisted suicide helper!

I have friends. I am loved. I am capable of making new friends.

I forget this too often, I think.

The magnitude of my loneliness grows with age. I'm a Doctor without a Companion. It's about as awful as you think.

Happy Halloween

On Halloween candy growing up: I always saved mine, like a dragon hording gold. I'd eat a few pieces at a time, but never large quantities. I'd usually have candy from last Halloween left come the next Halloween, which only made my stockpile larger. This wasn't because I didn't have much: my dad and I developed an efficient house hunting algorithm every year around town that got me a very full bag. It was simply that on the matter of "having your cake or eating it," I chose to have more than eat.

The idea of Halloween candy all being gone in a few days has always puzzled me, because it was so incongruous with what my behavior was as a kid. It wasn't until I got older that I realized what I did wasn't typical.

Odd quirk of mine: grocery shopping concludes more enjoyably when I get to pack my own groceries at the checkout.

Tidbits

My anxiety toward people is less about the actual interaction part (I tend not to be shy) and more "What are they REALLY thinking about me?"

If someone is hurt and incorrectly assigns blame for that pain to you, you are very much allowed to point out their error.
