I was told today by an old timer from Cuba that my beard makes me look
like a young Fidel Castro. I'm on one hand horrified. On the other hand,
I guess I can add "Latin American Despot" to my cosplay list. Yay?
Those
who hate humanity itself will always seek to tighten the noose of
control - while trying to convince us that the rope is just a scarf we
need to keep warm.
And it all starts with the phrase, "There should be a law..."
Met a guy visiting from England. I asked him which accent he had
(since there are dozens of variants). Turns out he had the Manchester -
the only one I know the name of. Fun!
Crossover idea: Lupin III versus Isaac and Miria (Baccano!). The
greatest thief versus a pair of immortals. Poor Zenigata is gonna end up
in the funny farm trying to handle the wacky hijinks.
Steve Ditko's Question is my favorite version of that character. The
animated JLU one wasn't bad, though, thanks to the dialogue references
to his origins.
I'm trying to figure out if Keima Katsuragi (World God Only Knows) meeting Haruhi Suzumiya would fix her or cause the world to end. It'd be hilarious, regardless.
Random WPI flashback: meeting a very cute and intelligent girl and hanging out with her. I then told two "friends" about her. One proceeds to spread rumors we were dating. The other walks right up to her and asks if she likes me. She gets so creeped out by all this she stops talking to me. Sigh.
The inanity of small talk and shallow background
conversations grate on my mind like sand paper. It's fine in small doses, but
when that's all people are capable of it becomes pitiable, like a dog with
missing legs.
There's a part in a fridge called a "bi-metal frost controller." It
triggers the defrost mechanism by expanding and contracting. I keep
calling it the "bi-frost" and expecting Heimdal to teleport me away.
Random Taiwan flashback: 7-11's are like Starbucks over there. Every
corner has one. It's the most common brand you will see. There are more
per city there than in some entire states here.
Probably the cheesiest motivational line I have ever thought of, born
from a very weird discussion on the merits of unicorns combined
with the concept of owning up to personal mistakes.
Something I love: getting a paycheck. Knowing that I was able to turn my
time into money is deeply satisfying. That there is someone who feels I
am worth compensating for my labor is a huge boost to self-confidence.
